airbnb host medals

I worked with Airbnb to redesign the Host Medal system, replacing the previous flat graphic treatment with something that felt more dimensional, tangible, and premium. These medals are awarded to hosts as they reach specific milestones, so the goal was to create a visual that better reflected the significance of those achievements.

My explorations focused on giving the medals a more refined, physical presence while still feeling consistent with the Airbnb brand. I also explored how the medal would be presented within a premium display case.

For the animated experience sent to hosts, the case begins as a flat graphic before opening to reveal the medal inside. The medal then rises from the case and presents itself to the host, transforming the achievement into a more elevated and rewarding moment.
